Cookie Policy

Effective Date: July 28, 2025

Last Updated: Aug 01, 2025

1. Introduction

This Cookie Policy explains how Altegon.com (“we”, “our”, “us”) uses cookies and similar tracking technologies when you visit our website: https://altegon.com/. It explains what cookies are, why we use them, what types we use—including those set by Google Analytics and HubSpot Analytics—and how you can manage your preferences.

2. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device (computer, smartphone, tablet) when you visit a website. They help the site remember your settings, track sessions, and deliver a better user experience. Some cookies are essential, others are optional and used for tracking, analytics, or advertising.

3. Types of Cookies We Use

CategoryPurposeExamples
Essential CookiesRequired for site functionality—necessary for sessions, forms, etc.Session IDs, cookie consent storage
Analytics CookiesTrack user behavior and site performance via Google Analytics & HubSpot._ga, _gid (Google); __hstc, __hssc, __hssrc (HubSpot)
Functionality CookiesEnhance usability (e.g. chat, preferences).HubSpot messagesUtk, high-contrast cookie

4. Purpose and Legal Basis for Using Cookies

  • Analytics Cookies: Help us understand how users interact with our site, measure performance, and drive improvements. These are deployed only after opt‑in consent is given via our banner.
  • Privacy laws compliance: Under the EU ePrivacy Directive (and GDPR), prior explicit consent must be obtained for non-essential cookies like analytics. Rulings such as Planet49 reinforce this.
  • Where analytics cookies are deployed without consent, we rely on and document a legal basis such as legitimate interest—only where allowed by local law and regulation.

5. How We Use Google Analytics & HubSpot Analytics

  • Google Analytics (_ga, _gid, _utma): Tracks visitor activity so we can understand traffic patterns and engagement. IP anonymization is enabled to help address privacy concerns.
  • HubSpot cookies (__hstc, __hssc, __hssrc, etc.): Track sessions and visitor behavior in aggregate to help optimize our website and marketing. These cookies are enabled only after a visitor gives consent via our cookie banner.

If a visitor does not opt in, HubSpot will not collect analytics data for that session—even if contact forms are submitted.

6. Consent and Management

  • We display a cookie consent banner at first visit, allowing users to accept, decline, or manage cookies by category. Opting out blocks all non-essential cookies (like analytics) until consent is provided.
  • Banner usage ensures compliance with GDPR’s requirement that consent be freely given, specific, informed, and as easy to withdraw as to give.
  • You can manage or withdraw consent via a persistent “Manage Cookies” link (e.g. footer), or adjust preferences in your browser.

7. Cookie Retention Periods

  • Google Analytics cookies like _ga typically expire after 2 years.
  • HubSpot cookies such as __hstc expire after 6 months; session cookies like __hssc expire after 30 minutes.

8. Third‑Party Access & Tracking

  • Google Analytics and HubSpot act as data processors. All data collected remains in accordance with their data processing agreements and relevant standard contractual clauses.
  • No personal data beyond IP anonymization or aggregated metrics is shared or sold.

9. Your Rights

If you are based in a jurisdiction subject to laws like the GDPR or CCPA, you have the right to:

  • Access, correct or delete your data,
  • Restrict or object to processing,
  • Withdraw consent at any time,
  • Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

Instructions to exercise these rights are included in our Privacy Policy.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this document periodically (e.g. if cookie vendors change their practices). Changes will be noted in the Last Updated date above.

11. Contact Us

If you have questions or need this policy in another format, contact us via the support or privacy request form on our website.

This Cookie Policy is governed by Texas law and is effective as of the date indicated above. It describes our cookie practices in compliance with applicable privacy laws.
